Dennis Leavitt married Nykele Gagon in 1985. They are the parents of 4 children and 4 grandchildren. They met while attending Dixie State College, where Nykele played 3 sports and Dennis studied business and served as Student Body Vice President.
Dennis graduated with an Associate’s Degree from Dixie College, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from BYU. He served as a member of BYUSA, and later received a Master’s Degree in Educational Counseling.
Dennis was employed by the LDS Church Educational System from 1985 – 2010. His assignments included the MTC, various seminaries and institutes of religion, EFY, and adult religion. He was also part of the S&I Curriculum and Training Team from 1995-2000.
After retiring from CES, Dennis Leavitt accepted a position as General Manager of L’Chef LLC., a international manufacturing and distribution company. In 2017 he furthered his business pursuits and now serves as the COO of Squatty Potty, located in his home town of St. George, Utah.
Dennis has authored, co-authored, and worked as the general editor of several books. He has served as a bishop and stake president, and currently serves as an Area Temple and Family History Consultant in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
The Leavitt’s love to travel, enjoy recreational sports – especially golf, and enjoy spending time together as a family.
